A COMMUNITY GROUP THAT BRINGS TOGETHER PEOPLE FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS

word cloud

Seasons Theatre Company is a member-led community amateur dramatics group for people aged 18 and over. All our members have a passion for performance, mainly in musical theatre, working together to stage high quality polished performances in a number of environments. Seasons is a fully inclusive group with some members who have learning disabilities, autism and aspergers.

Based in Staffordshire, we rehearse every Wednesday evening at St. Barnabas Church Hall in Cannock. As a community interest company and a member of Cannock Chase Arts Council, we perform at local theatres including The Prince of Wales, CannockThe Rose, RugeleyNorton Canes High School and Great Wyrley High School. We support other local performing arts organisations, either by attending events or working alongside them.

We usually have two main performances each year, one being a gala show and the other being our main show. In the last two years we have performed L. Arthur Rose and Douglas Furber’s “Me And My Girl” and L. Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz”. We have also performed snippets from “Our House”, “Blood Brother’s”, “Les Miserables” and “We Will Rock You”.

A rarity found in amateur dramatics groups, Seasons is fully-supported, with it’s own backstage crew and technicians, as well as having strong musical leadership.

Although we call ourselves a group, speak to any one of our members and they will speak of Seasons as being one big family, all of us having a passion for drama and theatre arts.

Talking of drama, that’s just a part of what we do. In the last two years, Seasons have been to Germany twice and a trip to the West End to watch some of our idols take to the stage. We have more social events planned this year.

If you are interested in joining Seasons Theatre Company either as a member or volunteer, please contact us by email at info@seasonstheatrecompany.com or call Barbara on 07510 830 549.

Seasons is a fantastic opportunity for people with learning disabilities to work alongside community-based actors, to be part of an amateur dramatic society.

As Support Staffordshire development officers, we supported Seasons to apply and secure funding to kickstart and build up financial reserves, to enable Seasons to keep going for future years.

We attended Seasons launch night on the 20th February 2014 and it was great to see group members, volunteers and staff take pride in what they do. The launch night and everything to do with Seasons is very professional and inspiring. It was great to see the enthusiasm, commitment and dedication of the cast and to see an array of talents on display.

We look forward to seeing how Seasons develop and make a difference to peoples lives.
